Congressman Mick Mulvaney endorses Newberry State House candidate Rick Martin

(Newberry, SC)…5th District Congressman, Mick Mulvaney, has endorsed Newberry Republican businessman Rick Martin for State Representative. Mulvaney, who represents part of Newberry County, made the endorsement during a stop in Newberry yesterday.

In endorsing Martin, Mulvaney said, “Rick is a good solid conservative and I will help him in any way I can.”

Martin, who announced his candidacy on October 1, 2015, is currently the only announced Republican candidate in the race to replace retiring State Representative Walt McLeod. Martin filed financial paperwork with the State Ethics Commission in January showing $54,000 cash on hand.

“I am thrilled to have the support of Congressman Mulvaney. He has done a great job for the people of South Carolina, ” said Martin, who is campaigning to improve our education system, fix our crumbling roads and bridges, and reduce the tax burden on our citizens. Martin is the co-owner of a successful family company that has been in business in Newberry for 29 years. He’s a lifelong resident of Newberry, is married to his wife Fran of twenty-six years, and has 4 daughters and 1 foster child. He is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
