Former Newberry County Republican Party Chairman endorses Rick Martin for State House

(Newberry, SC)… Alan Gardner, former Newberry County Republican Party Chairman, today endorsed Republican businessman Rick Martin for State Representative. In announcing his support for Martin, Gardnersaid, “Rick was born and raised in Newberry and attended Newberry County Schools. He is a successful and highly respected small businessman who cares deeply about our county. There is no question he is the best candidate to represent Newberry County at the Statehouse.”

Martin is running to replace Rep. Walt McLeod, who announced his retirement in October.
 
Martin said, “I am excited to have the support of someone like Alan Gardner. In addition to being a Republican leader, Alan also served as former Chairman of John de la Howe School for children and Chief of Staff for Lt. Governor Bauer. He is also a recipient of the “Order of the Palmetto.”
 

Just last week, 5th District Congressman Mick Mulvaney endorsed Martin’s campaign for Statehouse.

Martin is the co-owner of a successful family company that has been in business in Newberry for 29 years.  He’s a lifelong resident of Newberry, is married to his wife Fran of twenty-six years, and has 4 daughters and 1 foster child. He is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
