CHAPPELLS–Rick Martin, Republican candidate for the State House of Representatives, met with voters Saturday at the April meeting of the Summerset/Windmill Property Owners’ Association (POA). At the meeting, Martin provided solutions to issues facing Newberry County and South Carolina as a whole, including: education reform, aiding small businesses, Second Amendment protection, lowering regulations on industry, eliminating property taxes, repairing roads and reforming state agencies.
The meeting was held at the Chappells Volunteer Fire Department, and the venue also made for informative and vital discussion on the importance of local fire and rescue squads. Station #10 is just one of the many rural fire departments facing over-regulation, insufficient funding, and a shortage of willing and able volunteers. All citizens are encouraged to consider this all-important community service.
Martin seeks the Republican nomination for the 40th State House District, which represents Newberry County and surrounding areas. The statewide primary will be held Tuesday, June 14.
