COLUMBIA—The House Utility Ratepayer Protection Committee will hold its fourth hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 3, as the group continues to work towards developing a viable plan forward in response to the V.C. Summer suspension.
This comes after the committee, chaired by Rep. Peter McCoy (R-Charleston), joined House Speaker Jay Lucas (R-Darlington) in calling for a State Law Enforcement Division investigation into possible criminality regarding mismanagement at the V.C. Summer nuclear plant.
McCoy has invited executives and board members from Santee Cooper to appear to testify. In previous hearings, the committee heard from the Public Service Commission, the Office of Regulatory Staff, SCANA/SCE&G, and from members of the public who have been affected by this fiasco.
The hearing will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Room 110 of the Solomon Blatt Building on the State House grounds in Columbia.
